this was useful because you could upload animated avatars, now that is impossible.

you can still upload animated pfps, on the discord developer page

As 8bit said, this feature was removed since Discord added animated pfp and banner support to the developer portal directly.

We have nothing really to add here now, so there’s no point building and maintaining additional UI and APIs for this.
